If I were President...

If I was elected president of the United States I would do my best to eliminate the issue of Unemployment. I will be writing a proposal of how I would solve this issue. Here is my outline:

I. Introduction
    a. Start with some statistics about unemployment in the US.
    b. The government should implement a new program for those that are unemployed
    c. State a couple of reasons.
II. Context and background:
     a. Start with where unemployment began and give a history of unemployment.
     b. Help readers understand how big an issue unemployment is.
     c. The readers need to understand that this information is essential to know that unemployment is a huge issue.
III. Proposal:
      a. explain the different types of proposals and elaborate on them.
      b. explain how the proposals would help unemployment rates go down.
      c. explain why this proposal is good and why they should consider it. talk about some opposing views. Also talk about the weaknesses.
IV. Conclusion:
      a. Review the most important parts of my argument
      b. explain why this topic is important to the readers. Talk about what the reader would gain if they followed this proposal.
      c. If this proposal was passed, what would happen?

Let's Solve this Problem!

In my argument of fact I talked about how unemployment has been an issue that has been around for numerous years and though we have been able to bring it down, we have not been able to stop it from going up. How exactly can we solve this problem.I feel like one of the ways we could solve this problem is by creating a program for unemployed people to go to learn a new trade and possibly get help applying for jobs. I feel like teaching people new things they will feel like they can try a new profession. Another thing that I think would help is contracts, when you are hired you sign a contract for a number of years which will guarantee you having a job for a number of years. This would help create job security. The final way I think we can solve this problem is by getting the government more involved. There has to be some way they can help unemployed people find jobs, or they could even create new jobs for unemployed people. They could also give unemployed people longer on unemployment insurance to find a job.

Let's Argue

Now I wanna talk about what I will be talking about in my argument of fact. I kind of want to clear up any confusion about unemployed people maybe being lazy and that they don't want to work. When in fact there are unemployed people that want to work but are having trouble finding a job. I want to provide some more information on the different kinds of employment I talked about in my Annotated Bibliography and I also want to provide more statistics for more proof. At this point right now I am not too sure what I want to bring to you that is unknown. Hopefully through my research I can find something that not many people know and I can build on it. I want people to understand that not all unemployed people are unemployed by choice. I will find something that shows different people who are unemployed because of a circumstance rather than a choice. I want to find more facts on the different kinds of unemployment that will show people that finding a job is a really hard thing to do.

So far......

Well I have now been researching unemployment rates for a couple of weeks. I feel like I have learned a couple of different things from all my research. I've learned from some of these articles that unemployment wasn't a huge problem until the Great Recession. In all three of my articles that seemed to be an issue and two of them also talked about different kinds of unemployment. It also talked about how population affects unemployment. There wasn't really anything that was so new that it surprised me. I do want to some more research on the percentages of unemployment. I also want to research on how we can affect unemployment rates or help them. I will probably look in more journal articles for this information. I would also like to look at it somewhere else as well such as web sites.

What have I learned?!

Since starting to research unemployment rates I have learned one thing: Research isn't always as easy as it seems!!
I did use some keywords to narrow my search and I found that Labor and Employment worked pretty well. Rates weren't too useful so I haven't used that keyword as much but I still have a lot of work to do.
I feel like there should be a lot on my topic and there probably is but I didn't find too many. I may just have to look harder. I found one source that cover unemployment since the 1890's. I looked at sources with different point of views. I found one that even focused on employment since 2007. I also am looking at different types of employment which include cyclical and structural employment. I want to find things about unemployment from all kinds of points of view because it's different for everybody.

What am I writing about!?

The time has come for me to pick a topic for my research paper this semester. I have thought about a variety of topics and finally have chosen to research employment rates and why they are such a roller coaster. I have chosen this topic because unemployment has really become an epidemic in the United States and I want to research why they increase and decrease every so often.

I have some very important questions about my topic:
1. Why are unemployment rates high?
2. Why are we still laying off people.
3. How can we keep unemployment rates steady.
4. How many new jobs do we have to make to eliminate unemployment.
5. Are there programs for people who are unemployed?

I am studying unemployment rates because I want to know why they aren't steady, in order to help my reader understand the unemployment epidemic in America.

Who am I?!

Hey there I'm Faustino Garcia and I am a freshmen here at WTAMU! I am 19 years old and I am from the small town of Earth, Texas! It is about an hour and a half from here. My birthday is September 9th. I'm not too sure I'm an expert in anything yet but I love to work with computers. I am usually always working with a computer! I love the new technology that comes out every so often! I usually nerd out about stuff like that but I am not a huge nerd at all! I have a couple of hobbies that range from listening to music to following my favorite celebrities! I also like to read! Listening to music is one of my hobbies because of the fact that I love listening to different kinds of music and discovering new music! I like following celebrities because it's so cool to see that they are exactly like us!! I also enjoy reading because it kind of takes me into a whole new world and allows me to get away from everything for a while. I enjoy taking different computer classes and I enjoy math as well. I pretty much like any class unless it is history! I am passionate about my education right now so I guess I am also passionate about the fact that I think everyone deserves the right to get an education and be educated even if it us up to the point of high school. I would like to learn more about literacy rates throughout the country cause I find it very important that everyone knows how to read and write! I hope this kind of gives you an idea about who I am! See ya soon!
